Christian Chavez
I’ve had the privilege of being coached by Scott Bennefield for 2 years in the sport of triathlon. His guidance from training, nutrition, goal setting, and motivation have made me be passionate about the sport of triathlon, and has taken to new limits that I didn’t think could happen. For that I’m grateful to be coached by Scott, and the knowledge he has given me.
I connected with scott through a mutual friend, because I wanted to compete in the sport of triathlon. Scott took me under his wings even though I had no experience in the sport. Coming from a swimming and running background I had no experience on a tandem bike. This is where I knew Scott was passionate and loved coaching. In October of 2023 he met me in San Antonio with a guide he knew to introduce me to tandem biking. He was encouraging and patient with for being my first time on a tandem. This was the start of a wonderful journey.
Scott’s coaching led me to my first triathlon win at one of his camps and first ever adaptive only triathlon race, a USA Paratriathlon talent ID camp, qualify for US Paratriathlon nationals, and making the 2026 resident team that trains at the Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. I couldn’t accomplish any of this without his guidance and coaching. He’s made me better since I’ve know him. I’m more knowledgeable, passionate, smarter, and confident in the sport of triathlon.
I highly recommend Coach Scott to anyone who is looking to achieve there triathlon goals. Coach Scott will get you there. He’s done that for me, and I’m forever thankful for that.
Christian is a visually impaired athlete from San Antonio, TX. He is a USAT Paratriathlon Nationals Qualifier in 2025. He has been selected to the resident program for TEAM USA Paratriathlon at the Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO for 2026. This will put him on path towards competing at the Paralympics in LA 28.
