Why are you pursuing athletic goals?
I am happier and healthier when I swim, bike and run.
I enjoy quantifying my performance and comparing my data to others.
I want to win and/or qualify for championships
It’s fascinating to learn from others—just when I think I know it all, I learn something new from a training partner
To serve as an example of health for family and friends.
My biggest fear about race day is:
That I’m not good enough.
A dead battery on my power meter
Not finishing. Not an option!
Forgetting the things I’ve learned in training
Getting called in to work at the last minute
When it comes to training information details, data, and metrics, I prefer:
Give me the basic information with as few details as necessary (Just tell me what time it is)
I have some interest to learn what is being prescribed beyond the workout (Help me tell time better)
I am a fanatic for knowledge and want/need to know how every detail works (Show me how to build a watch)
I consider myself to have more a tendency toward:
Fixed mindset: avoid challenges; give up easy; feel threatened by others success; important to look like I know what I am doing
Growth mindset: embrace challenges; persist in setbacks; learn from criticism; find lessons in the success of others; desire to learn
